All about Ghostwriting — November 10 at “Law and Order: STC WDC”

November 6, 2009

Law and Order: STC WDC, presented by Lili Fox Vélez, Ph.D.
5-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2009
Location: National Museum of Crime and Punishment
(Metro to Gallery Place)

The big picture issue behind ghosting is really the whole idea of writing-for-hire. Where do the names of writers belong on those documents? Do the medical (or engineering) team names go on the document, or the writer who hammered the raw ideas into sensible prose? Does it matter who is doing the actual writing, or does it matter more who wrote the check to pay for it?

Come out to the National Museum of Crime and Punishment to network with fellow writers, learn some tips about ghostwriting, and peek inside DC’s newest museum and headquarters for FOX TV’s hit series, America’s Most Wanted. Register today at http://lawandorderstcwdc.eventbrite.com/

This event is hosted by the DC chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC), and AIW members get the same pricing as STC members thanks to a special arrangement with the chapter.

Price is $10 for STC members, IEEE members, and AIW members, $30 for nonmembers, $5 for Chapter Officer, Committee Manager, Volunteers, or Full-Time Student. Cost includes dinner, program, and entrance into the museum. Since the museum closes at 8 p.m. when our event ends, we’re starting earlier than usual so that people can tour the museum if they choose from 5-6 p.m. Then we serve the food (sandwiches, salad, cookies) at 6 and network for a bit, and our presentation goes from 7-8 p.m.
