As we wind down our calendar year, we’re grateful for your participation in AIW activities.
Whether its seminars where we get hints about our craft, free monthly teleconferences on health insurance which educate us about the business aspect of freelancing, or the reinstated happy hours which give us an opportunity to socialize and trade stories about writing, our organization can better serve you as a writer. In the coming months, please share with us your ideas for teleconferences, workshops, seminars and other activities which you think would help you and other members.
At the December board meeting, we agreed to a reciprocal relationship with WriterHouse: AIW will offer WriterHouse members AIW member pricing to all of our events in exchange for AIW members to attend their events at their member rates. We are discussing this kind of relationship with other organizations as well.
I’d be remiss if I did not issue a last call for the $100 membership rate. On January 1, the rate will be $125, but still lower than our traditional $145. Our rate reduction in July encouraged many members to renew early or new members to join. If your membership is up in the coming months, give yourself an early gift while our rate is at $100, or give the gift of a membership to a friend or family member.
