Writers’ Poker Game with Ken York of AIW Press, June 28, 2010, 6:00 pm - 12:00 am

Are you a writer and love to play poker?

We want to deal you in.

Ken York of AIW Press is starting a Writers’ Poker Game. Here is an opportunity to kick back and enjoy an evening with some great writers. Envision the poker games on ABC’s Castle with you sitting at the table.

Games will be held monthly, or there abouts, at Ken York’s house in Falls Church, Virginia. Games will be on Monday nights as a general rule with play beginning around 6:00 pm and over by 12:00 am—some of us have to still work for a living. The emphasis is on having fun as opposed to winning or losing. This being Ken York’s house, Ken York is arbitrator of all disputes.

Games will be dealer’s choice (no wild cards) and Texas Hold’em—either tournaments or $1/$2 blind games.

Although chips are used, the chips represent real money. Stakes will be such that you may go up or down about $100 over the course of an evening. Not enough to break the bank, but enough to be serious. There is no cost for playing poker other than what you win or lose. The house will not take any percentage of any pot—a requirement to stay legal in Virginia.

It will be a bring-your-own-booze/soda event. If you forget, don’t worry, there is always something to drink at Ken York’s house. If the players get hungry, we can call out for a pizza.

Ken York’s poker room is equipped with an industrial strength exhaust fan and there will be smoking (cigar and cigarette), so if smoking offends you or makes you sick, please find another game.

If you are interested email Ken York at york@RumRunnerPubs.com. He will email those interested with the date of the next game (first game will be June 28, 2010). The game will be limited to eight players. Ken York, plus two other founding members have the first three slots. No, I won’t tell you who the other founding members are but you would recognize the names.
