Writing may be a solitary pursuit, but that doesn't mean you have to go it alone. This is American Independent Writers. We're here with you, for you, behind you.

Since 1975, we've been an inclusive organization for writers of all persuasions. Our members range from multi-published authors to dabblers in poetry, award-winning journalists to essayists who write for themselves, and everything in between. American Independent Writers exists to:

CREATE an open and inclusive community of authors, journalists, and other writers;

INFORM, EDUCATE AND SUPPORT its members in the business and craft of writing and help them succeed in a rapidly changing environment; and

ADVOCATE for writers on key local and national issues.

A love for writing is the only requirement to join. If you're not yet a member, we'd love to have you. AIW membership starts at just $100/year for students and seniors (with valid ID), and $125/year for regular membership. Click to join online.
